PRACTICE & SOCIAL DANCE PARTIES AT LACREST:- 624 E. Main St., Lansdale, PA, third floor, 7:30-9:55 PM. Parties almost every Friday night. The party is open to everyone. We will get you dancing the very first night with or without prior lessons. There are no wallflowers at our dances. A host will greet you, dance with you and introduce you to other attendees. Not sure which class is right for you. Join us for the dance and ask the Director at this instructor-assisted practice party. While there is no formal class with our dance party, an instructor will help attendees one-on-one during the dance. $10 per person. Pay the host. No dance on Labor Day Weekend. SATURDAY AFTERNOON STANDARD TECHNIQUE WORKSHOPS WITH RITA GEKHMAN: Rita does monthly standard/smooth technique workshops focusing on one dance each month. Feb. 4-Tango, Feb. 25-Viennese Waltz. 2-5:30 PM with break from 3:30-4 PM. Limited to 16 students. $80; $40 for 1/2 in advance or $89; $45 for 1/2 at the door. SATURDAY AFTERNOON LATIN/RHYTHM TECHNIQUE WORKSHOPS WITH LANA ROOSIPARG: Lana does monthly Latin/rhythm technique workshops focusing on one dance each month. Feb. 11-Cha Cha. The first 1.5 hours will be for beginner/intermediate dancers that may be new to the dance and the second half will be for intermediate/advanced dancers. Note that there is no difference between beginner and advanced technique. There is only the correct technique, so everyone is welcome to attend both halves. The first half will just move a bit slower and cover basics for people new to the dance. Intermediate/Advanced dancers are still welcome to the first half and can work on perfecting their technique. The second half will assume more knowledge of the figures in the dance. Beginners can attend this half if they were not overwhelmed by the first half. 2-5:30 PM with break from 3:30-4 PM. Limited to 20 dancers. $50 in advance or $56 at the door; $25 in advance or $28 for 1/2 session at the door. Private lessons available for $85 for 55-minutes paid in advance. MONTHLY SUNDAY "STRICTLY PRACTICE" PARTIES: (This practice party is different than our Friday social mix. This is a serious couples practice session. Bring your own partner or practice solo. The DJs will play one hour of standard/smooth music and one hour of Latin/rhythm music for several target dances requested by the attendees but feel free to ignore the music and practice anything you wish. Just be considerate of other couples on the floor.) Next dates: August 14 & 28 hosted by Kevin Brosiusfrom 1:30-3:30 PM at the La Crest Health Center, 624 E. Main St., Lansdale, PA 19454. $5 for one hour or $10 for two per person. No registration required.
2012-2013 DANCE CRUISES: Vivian has chosen to participate in two 2012/2013 cruises with the Cunard line because, not only does Cunard provide luxury cruising at non-luxury prices, but it offers the best amenities for ballroom dancers: the largest dance floor at sea, high-level dance teachers, dancehosts and real ballroom, swing, and Latin bands and DJs on every cruise. Her group will also have extra time on the dance floors for lessons (when she is onboard), or practice or dancing. Vivian tries to go to new places each year, so listed below are the two cruises she has chosen (Hope you can join her for one or more of these cruises.) Group rates are available for these cruises as long as cabins last.
8/28/2012 - From Southampton to Rome(Civitavecchia) for 9 days including London, Seville, Palma, Barcelona, Monte Carlo, Florence/Pisa, and Rome. This includes Labor Day weekend. This is group TP1 Q216 aboard the Queen Elizabeth. Final payment due 5/30/2012.
3/12/2013 - From Los Angeles to New York for 18 days including Los Angeles, Puerto Vallarta, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Curacao, Grand Cayman, and New York. Only one flight is needed for Northeast or Southern California dancers. This is group TQS Q306 aboard the Queen Elizabeth. Final payment is due 12/12/2012.
Transatlantic options on the Queen Mary 2 do not coincide with the Blackpool Festival so Vivian will not be doing this cruise in 2012, but would be happy to book one of these cruises for you.
